Since our inception in 1989, The Greening of Detroit has enjoyed support from corporate partners in every industry from printing and publishing to automotive and manufacturing. Through their involvement with The Greening, our corporate partners recognize the value in contributing to the environment in concrete and highly visible ways.
Volunteer Teams
Many of our corporate partners organize their employees in volunteer teams, and contribute their time to neighborhood tree plantings, maintaining community gardens, or cleaning vacant lots. Some of our partners offer in-kind supplies or services, helping to reduce the agency’s out-of-pocket expenses.
Grants
Another way that corporations can get involved is though grants – which can either help underwrite the agency’s operating expenses or provide funding for specific projects, such as our Green Corps youth employment project or our Tree Keepers program for Detroit school children.
Sponsorships
Numerous fundraising programs and special events programs conducted throughout the year allow our corporate partners to get involved as sponsors.
However they choose to get involved, our corporate sponsors are united in their desire to make a difference in the environment. These partners believe that the Greening of Detroit’s efforts to increase green space in the city of Detroit is helping to create a healthy, livable community, and is improving the quality of life for the residents of our city.
