Launch of “Google Me” – Google admits it knows what we all do

We’ve all done it. You don’t have to feel ashamed to admit to that moment of intrigue while staring at that famous little search box.  Recently, however, the act of “Googling” yourself or someone else has just gotten just a little bit more interesting. Let’s face it: curiosity has gotten the best of most of us at one time or another as we type our name into Google just to see how many results come back.

On April 21, Google announced the launch of a profile feature that will allow you to have some control of your Internet Identity.  With Google being the world’s most dominate search engine, the Smith’s and the Jones’s will be able to rest easy knowing that even they can be found without looking through hundreds of pages.  Or, if your search results bring back a less than appealing event from your past, filling out a profile could result in bringing more relevant and present content to the forefront.

You can create your own free profile by typing the search term “me” in Google and you will be directed to the profile section (we know, very funny Google). The profile allows users to add multiple photos, add past and present employers and addresses, short bios and past educational background. Also, on your profile you can provide links to such sites as your MySpace, Facebook, Classmates and LinkedIn.

So, go ahead, fill out the profile. You know you want to. Especially if you know of some certain spring break pictures that might be floating around the interwebs.
