Media Genesis and the Troy Public Library Launch Financial Education Site

Media Genesis and the Troy Public Library launched Financing Your Future, a website that will deliver and facilitate money management lessons for high school students preparing for college.

The website, designed and developed by Media Genesis, is part of the Troy Public Library’s upcoming Financial Planning for Your College Future program. The program will offer sessions covering topics including budgeting and saving, paying for college, navigating the financial aid process, appropriate use of credit, investment considerations, and managing debt. Oakland University, Walsh College, and GreenPath Debt Solutions will offer instructional support.

All content from the sessions, including session videos, will be made available to the entire community through the website. Media Genesis created the site with a Drupal content management system to enable the Troy Public Library to keep the site up to date. To ensure the success of this project, Media Genesis donated 50 hours of digital development work.

The program will run from September 2013 through June 2014. The Troy Public Library, in partnership with the Friends of the Troy Public Library, will also offer scholarship opportunities to outstanding program participants.
