Designing a Healthier User Journey: Reimagining the Ulliance Wellness Portal Experience

Ulliance, a long-standing partner of Media Genesis since 2011, delivers wellness, behavioral health, and employee assistance programs to organizations nationwide. In 2024–2025, Ulliance sought to enhance its user portal with a more engaging, intuitive design—particularly as it introduced a new self-assessment tool focused on health and wellness.

The Challenge

Ulliance’s new wellness questionnaire aimed to guide users through relevant health topics and connect them with support resources. But the existing portal needed a UI/UX overhaul to match the ambition of this feature. The design had to invite participation, streamline onboarding, and support multiple user pathways—while remaining accessible and mobile-friendly.

The key user modes included:

  • General Browsing – View resources without interaction
  • Life Advisor Navigator – Complete a guided survey with advisor support
  • Self-Guided Path – Independently complete the questionnaire without assistance

Each path needed to feel seamless, clear, and visually compelling.

The Approach

Media Genesis conducted a full design audit of the Ulliance portal, collaborating closely with their internal project and development teams. Our goal was to build a refreshed experience that prioritized ease of use and visual engagement across all devices.

Our process included:

  • Usability assessment to identify friction points in the existing portal
  • Planning and journey mapping to account for different user types and paths
  • Wireframe development to align structure with function
  • Design prototyping to bring concepts to life visually
  • Design documentation to guide future development and maintain consistency

 

Core designs focused on the Life Advisor portal and questionnaire, a resource library, and detailed topic information pages—all tied together by a cohesive, responsive UI.

The Outcome

The updated portal offers a clearer, more inviting experience for users navigating sensitive topics like mental health and wellness. Whether browsing freely or engaging in guided support, users encounter a consistent, mobile-optimized interface that supports action and builds trust. The flexible structure also empowers Ulliance to continue evolving its offerings, with two additional pages already added to the project scope in 2025.
