Ruth Ellis Center: Website Development

The Ruth Ellis Center (REC) was founded in 1999 and is a social services agency that provides residential and drop-in programs for LGBTQ+ youth. The REC offers support to these vulnerable and at-risk individuals who may often be turned away from other agencies.

The REC wanted to transfer their current site to a content management system that was easier to manage in-house. They specifically chose WordPress and requested that the “Donate” and “Purchase Tickets” buttons be better integrated into their site.

The process:

• Transferred over the REC’s content to WordPress
• Added a donation thermometer to display funding goals and status, designed as an adjustable interactive piece located on the homepage
• Added a photo gallery, with emphasis on controllability so that administrators could easily manage this section of the website
