IADT Fashion
Antoine Dubeauclard, President of Media Genesis, recently partnered with students of the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) to design and produce a wilderness jacket that was both comfortable and functional.
The fashion design class, led by IADT Instructor Rebecca Moore, was divided into two teams. Each was responsible for the research, development, materials, and production of a working prototype. The project provided unique challenges to the students in balancing form and function as well as meeting the specific needs of a target market of consumers.
Dubeauclard, who oversees Media Genesis’ creative department and is an avid outdoorsman, presented a range of current wilderness equipment to the students. He conducted a review of the aesthetic and practical features needed in a wilderness jacket and provided students with specific challenges to meet the needs of potential users. He then evaluated and modeled the finished jackets.
Speaking of Dubeauclard’s review of the wilderness gear, Ronisha Walker, one of the participating IADT students, said, “He gave us good advice. It made us change a little bit up in the jacket. He actually gave us ideas that we didn’t even think about.”
Dubeauclard is now waiting for the cold weather season so he can personally field test the jackets.
“I’ve already got some great hunches about how they’re going to perform. I think they’re going to do really well,” he said.
