The Value of Engaging Content
Content, in all of its forms, plays a major role on a website. It’s how you portray your organization and communicate with your key audiences. This is why, at Media Genesis, we work closely with our clients to create content that not only best reflects their company and brand, but which delivers important information to readers as efficiently as possible and is optimized for search engines (SEO).
As part of our content writing services, Media Genesis has created website content for a wide number of industries, including the education, hospitality, law, industrial, technology, automotive, pest control, funeral, and chemical manufacturing industries.
Headers, descriptions, blogs/news articles, meta data, navigation item names; all of these are pieces of content that can and should be amplified in order to create an ideal user experience for your website. Images should also be considered an active part of your content in order to create overall harmony when it comes to tone, voice, etc.
One of the most valuable content services Media Genesis offers is blog writing. Having new content added to your website on a regular basis has a strong, positive impact on SEO and can help build site retention. (Retention is the count – often the percentage – of users who return to your website repeatedly over a given period of time.) Having content that is updated regularly, like a blog, gives users a reason to keep coming back to your site.
Incorporating a blog on your website also opens up opportunities for including keyword-rich content. By identifying and incorporating strong keywords within your content, you are increasing the likelihood that the right users and audiences are finding your website. But don’t get us wrong – keywords should also be used in content throughout your site such as in headers and short descriptions.
The Proof Is in the Stats
In November of 2019, we launched a new blog for a client in the funeral industry. This came on the heels of a brand new site launch, and the client wanted to not only bring in new traffic to the site, but produce quality content with helpful information that would benefit their already-existing audience and clientele.
Over the course of the past several months, the average number of monthly users brought into the website from search engines grew from 0 to more than 4,000 with total users coming in at just above 7,700. The website’s organic search value (which is calculated using a number of key indicators, including keyword value) also improved.
The site’s other pages also benefited from the creation of regular blog content due to the fact that, through the blog, users are being directed to the products, services, and information they need most. One website page that experienced significant improvement in stats was the page that houses the portal for funeral services. Users can search to find their loved one, make donations to the funeral, write messages to the family, and more.
Prior to the blog, the average number of users per month to this page was approximately 12. However, after the launch of the blog, this number grew to nearly 10,000 pageviews per month with a total time-on-page of 2:58 – an entire 2:03 minutes higher than it was previously.
While this is merely one example of how your website can significantly benefit from incorporating custom content on a regular basis, there are plenty of other ways that content can be used to improve your site.
