In 2021, for its 20th anniversary, Pathology Outlines envisioned something new: a global directory to help pathologists connect, share insights, and be recognized for their contributions.

The Challenge

As a long-standing digital partner since 2014, Pathology Outlines approached Media Genesis with the idea of building an interactive, global directory of pathologists—a digital space that would spotlight professionals from around the world and foster a sense of shared community. The directory needed to be scalable, user-friendly, and flexible enough to grow well beyond its initial vision.

At launch, the directory would include basic professional details. Over time, it was expected to evolve into something much richer: a living snapshot of the global pathology field.

The Approach

Media Genesis worked hand-in-hand with Pathology Outlines to plan and develop the full directory experience—beginning with user flows, data structures, and intuitive search functionality.

Key features included:

• A custom directory interface highlighting each pathologist’s name, country, subspecialty, headshot, and profile links
• An optional layer of personal insights such as “words of wisdom,” “secrets to success,” and “fun facts”
• Search and filtering tools to help users browse by region, expertise, or other criteria
• A secure, scalable submission system allowing pathologists worldwide to opt in and share their profiles
• Ongoing enhancements to support mobile usability, global participation, and continuous growth

MG has continued to support and improve the platform since its launch, refining features and expanding functionality as the community grows.

The Outcome

Since its debut in 2021, the Pathology Outlines directory has become a truly global resource—with over 37,000 pathologists listed and growing. It has evolved beyond a simple directory into a professional showcase and community hub, giving voice to pathologists around the world and helping foster connections in an increasingly specialized field.
