Media Genesis Security Update 1-23-2020
Media Genesis is committed to helping inform our clients about security risks that possibly pose a greater impact across the technological landscape.
The following items were confirmed by CISA (United States Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) and as such are significant for nearly all web users. We highly recommend you follow the security updates and recommend you let the appropriate people within your organization review the same.
Mozilla Firefox Update:
The Department of Homeland Security issues the following warning:
Mozilla has released security updates to address a vulnerability in Firefox and Firefox ESR. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to take control of an affected system. This vulnerability was detected in exploits in the wild.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) encourages users and administrators to review the Mozilla Security Advisory for Firefox 72.0.1 and Firefox ESR 68.4.1 and apply the necessary updates.
Advice/Action:
Ensure Firefox is upgraded to the latest version.

Unpatched Microsoft IE Browser Zero-Day
Microsoft earlier this week issued an emergency security advisory warning Windows users of a new zero-day vulnerability in Internet Explorer (IE) browser that attackers are actively exploiting in the wild — and there is no patch yet available for it.
Advice/Action:
If possible, use another browser. If not, Microsoft has provided some guidance on workaround solutions.
